Border Castles 200km 21/09/2013

Is it the same route as last year?

I've found the GPX that Bikey-Mikey produced for 2012...

Here is my revised version of Jon's original gpx file... (without which mine would not exist......)

http://bikeroutetoaster.com/Course.aspx?course=463896

I think it is pretty close to the original, and certainly gets to the INFO CONTROL places as well as the other control points.

I have more or less followed the whole thing, 20 metres by 20 metres, on google street view, as regards junctions, red telephone boxes, named public houses, Oast Houses, schools, sort of hotels, etc and I'm pretty sure its good enough.....

 :demon:

It looks like a great route and Tandem friendly  ;)

I've knocked this up from the routesheet provided - I shall check Mikey's to see if it's the same...

[edit] Hmm, no, but it is now  [/edit]

[edit2] Or will be when I can get to a computer that doesn't have issues with RidewithGPS  :-\ [/edit2]

Mikey's GPX was bang on, lots of folk getting lost on that ride last year, but not us!  ;D
Fantastic ride, lots of quiet roads. I was hoping to ride a 600k perm that weekend but unlikely to get the Friday and Monday off work.
So might well ride this again.

Cool, rather than reedit mine I just downloaded his in the end.

Toying with the idea of ECEing it from Cardiff...

Cheers Mikey

It will be fun navigating from the routesheet playing spot the landmark and reassuring the GPS will bleep if we go too far wrong!

We're planning to ECE to the start so it will be a long day  but at least it saves us a nights accommodation.  It's a pain trying to fit in Audax between work shifts and C. is unlikely to be able to get any more leave this summer ::-)
