Epic!  It needs a soundtrack.  Not sure what though.

Wowbagger hands the baton over to Ham:

Such a shame... Ham's readjustment on landing must have cost him points.

For completeness, I include the route that Del and I took when we ventured forth with the baton a couple of weeks ago.

You would have thought that I could have got that handover right after all the practice we had  :demon:

A fuller report will be forthcoming in the fullness.

The Baton is now safe chez ham, who's next? I think it should criss cross London a bit.

It must get to the LEL 2013 start at Loughton and be carried forward to Edinburgh - best chance going of it ever reaching JOG

But then it must come back from Edinburgh to Loughton with someone else and then work it's way north again.

Miles cycled 2013 = 6141.4
Miles cycled 2012 = 4038.1

Just reminding folks wot I have wot someone might want. For all I know someone might have a long felt want.

Dependent on factors might be able to deliver anywhere in M25 one day early next week. (actually, thre is a chance I won't but we'll cross that bridge as they say)

Note: handover should be London Centric, this is too important to happen just anywhere.... so even if a local person (kicks Andrij under the table) would like it, Manor Park will NOT be the handover venue.

It surely has to do LE even if it doesn't come back to L again afterwards.

I would be a little disappointed if the baton shot from London to Edinburgh without being able to help it on the way through the northeast and possibly the northwest.  (This is me being a little sad at feeling left out)

I thought from the map that there was a good spread of volunteers across the country to pass the baton north (when the southern team had lost interest or managed to pass it around everyone).  I've been quietly and patiently waiting my turn.  I also thought the relay was a good excuse for a longer ride and a chance to meet up on the most convoluted relay ever.  (This is me trying to find community-building reasons why the baton shouldn't ride LEL)

Would carrying the baton on LEL count as riding in two events at the same time?  Would you get disqualified for taking part in a LEJOG relay while also taking part in an Audax?  (This last comment was me being really silly and doesn't warrant a reply)

I think that that baton riding LEL would be fine, as long as it does the whole ride and ends up back in L.  It can then re-commence its rather random haphazard journey northwards

Will anyone make the baton a little LEL jersey to wear on the ride?

A group photo of YACFers with the Baton, on LEL, would be nice.

However I think we really need to make sure it ends up back on London for some serious handover action before it heads up North again.

Also, don't forget..the baton only travels by bike (exceptions are public transport, in order to negotiate large bodies of water, where there is no obvious alternative.  e.g. Cowes Chainlink Ferry.  Eurotunnel to France.  But you really must cycle to the point of embarkation)
