You could always just ride to York for the Tan Hill ride.....

I was thinking more like Warwick...

Still up for it, Warwickshire Lad?  If you hand it on to Polar Bear, it significantly reduces the risk of him selling me that recumbent   ;D

(Can't do this weekend, as I'm going rail assisted to Brizzle.  Can do most days this week or next though.)

Methinks I might have to take the bent for the transfer from AWL therefore increasing the likelihood of a very bent-oriented photo of the handover thus whetting Kim's appetite for a speedy bent.   ;)

It's an ornithopter - the leading edges of the wings are rigid, with steering achieved by a wossname that jibbles the tension on the back of the wings where they meet the body.  It flies surprisingly well, though not in a particularly bat-like manner.  Main problem is that the steering mechanism doesn't allow for quick or tight turns, so when used indoors it tends to crash into things, stall and flap about alarmingly.  Which I suppose is relatively bat-like.

It does however make up for this by having glowing eyes

I've yet to try taking it to a sensible outdoor space to try it out properly, mainly because the wings are very fragile.

Hehehe - splendid.

The separate tail is bird-like rather than bat ...

Kim, can you summarise the last handover sequence.

My last update was Blade to Basil in Brum.

...Followed by Basil to barakta in a different part of Brum[1], then barakta to me in another not quite so different part of Brum[2].

I'm waiting on a plan to take it down to Warwick/Leamington way and hand over to A Warwickshire Lad next week, maybe...

So, no apparent movement for more than a month. Is the baton sharing a sack with a brick at the bottom of a canal somewhere in the Midlands or will it be dug out from the depths of a saddle bag and got moving again in time for high summer?  ;)

I suffered a bout of achilles tendonitis on account of moving it down towards LE from Devon and into the depths of Cornwall you know  O:-)

It's a month until PBP so maybe we should start thinking about getting it to someone willing to transport it across the channel.

I thought TEH ROOLZ stated that it had to go everywhere human-powered.  With possible exceptions for water-crossings?  Even so, it'll get to the French coast, then go Brest-Paris during someone's second-half of PBP.  Then have to wait for the first half of someone else's PBP next year.

If other conveyances were allowed, (e.g. Kim's Mordor-Eusless train) then the relay opportunities of the Dun Run have been heinously neglected.

I'm sure there will be rock'ard PBPers planning to ride to/from Paris...

I hadn't considered the Dun Run.  Should really have got it to London for that.

There's always next year.  The difficulty would be in recording the baton-transfers, and ensuring that it only passed through the mitts of YACFers.  Retrieving it at the end would be easy; just attach a note to it to ask it be left at the cafe.  But in time for someone who was cycling home to take it onwards.

Can't do the Pie Run, as I have a prior engagement to go smoking on the back of a lovely lady's tandem.

I have a provisional plan to meet rower40 somewhere Tamworth/Burtonish, if nobody nearer wants a look in...

I can come down to somewhere on the canal between Wolverhampton and Birmingham to collect it, although it would need to be sometime between 10 and 11am..... I have to get home to do my chores! Not sure that's much help really.
