I found these videos strangely calming, and wish more people would drive like this...

I like that. Ta.
"How can people become more Ogmios?
They can go bald and get into herbal teas and only drive bangers."
Two thirds of the way there then, shame about the herbal tea thing. :)
-
Lovely. But shouldn't be watched before work because a) so chill b) almost lost my tea to the line "They think they're invincible just because they're from the future." Which is perhaps not in itself a funny line but somehow in context it worked.

Do we know the release date for Pothole 3000 ? I'd play that.

I think I'm living round the corner from a Potholeman 3000 boss level.

I see little evidence of any women taking part in the festival of Purim.
Just blokes.
And the occasional sprog.

Extraordinary.

Agreed. It was just that I don't often see Orthodox Jewish people wearing glitzy cowboy hats.

Did a ride with Ian Rauk one rainy Saturday, (so rainy that we were forced to take shelter in shop doorways) .
I think the ride may've been to Cambridge.
The ride went through Stamford Hill.
The men were all out and about, wearing their shtreimels.
They all had made-to-measure see-through plastic covers.
Looked pretty cool.
Obvs not as cool as metallic blue cowboy hats thobut.

Purim wasn't it?
I think I watched this a few months ago.

In these circles, women must not dance or sing within men's sight.
Some enterprising women's groups sing and dance in women only groups.

I'm getting myself a Hell's Angels mobility trike, gotta party with the Jewstafarians before I level up on Pothole Man 3000.

Ah! That'd make sense (sort of) then.

That ride was May 2011. Blast from the past! Was a grand day out. Apart from that biblical shower, obv…

Thanks Kim.

Sould have posted this up a while ago. Never really got if it was real.
-
I think he's doing voiceovers now on BT adverts.
-
He's also doing voiceovers for TfL ads.
-
He doesn't appear to have done any further episodes of the School of Zen Motoring, which is a shame. Plenty of older (and perhaps less zen) music videos to be found.

This deserves reposting here:

not the infamous "be nice to the driver that just nearly killed you, they might also be upset" advert?

Well that took a turn for the unexpected... Like so many things in life, it all gets a bit strange after Milton Keynes.

Important news: Ogmios has got his bike fixed. Possible Zen cycling video in the works.

It seemed to lose something crucial after MK?
Maybe the BBC3 is not a good place/direction for Ogmios?

Interesting that he interprets the pedestrians' wave and skip as a sign of gratitude. I think he's right, it is, but it's also a sort of bow and scrape. And why should people be grateful to a driver for allowing them to continue walking over a zebra crossing? Well, from an Ogmios spiritual perspective I suppose we should all be grateful for everything, and I'm sure Ogmios is also grateful for the opportunity to allow them to cross.
-
If you watch people on foot interact with each other there's a lot of it too. It's normal to politely offer someone else through a door first, or stand aside, and say thank you for it. A very human level of interaction, when we're interacting with people rather than cars. Not sure we should see it as a bad thing.
Edit: Not trying to say you're wrong - it still feels uncomfortable when a pedestrian behaves like this to a car driver. But I don't feel sure the solution is for the pedestrians to change here!
-
I think there's a small but significant difference between "thanks" and "gratitude" in this context. I can't now remember what word Ogmios actually used... In any case, I feel that if traffic generally were more ogmioid, we would both give and receive more thanks and less gratitude. But it's unlikely to happen.

.. why should people be grateful to a driver for allowing them to continue walking over a zebra crossing? .
Yes this is quite ingrained in UK society, as if the driver is doing the pedestrian a favour, but if we consider that the zebra crossing user has priority as per the highway code, then it becomes akin to a driver wanting to emerge from a side street not driving into the side of the car on the main road. Which of course is totally expected and not worthy of gratitude. I don't know why we can't look at zebra crossings in the same light.
Of course the driver who looks ahead and stops because he thinks you are going to cross might be more deserving of gratitude, rather than the one who stops when you are already across, and apparently expects thanks for .....not killing you.

Delightful. Temporary lights like a supply teacher at school...
-
You should always respect the light. Not just on the road either.
Interesting motorcycle action in this one. Firstly, the motorbike at the Ford-blocked mini-roundabout has indicators of a type I haven't noticed before, built into the rear light. Then there's the scooter roos, one with duct tape – and I feel that duct tape, traditionally the cyclist's ally, has betrayed us here – and the other on the pavement. Probably both to no avail. I've noticed the roos doing the pushing thing in Bristol – there's a cycle cut-through here (https://goo.gl/maps/yPcwN76Jo2xQXBCM7) that they all get off to push through on their way to collect from McChickenKing.

I think he's run out of dashcam footage... (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=14LauIrjzQ8)

I wish all guests on R4 Thought for the Day would adopt Ogmios's vocal cadence and intonation. Would improve my commute immeasurably.
-
Sharp sound effects. I was intrigued by what looked like leaves in the inside cover of the manual, though on closer look they might be drawings of leaves, or maybe stickers.
