Total sales dropped by 13% in comparison with March 2019, when they decreased by 3.7%, according to the SRC-KPMG retail sales monitor.
??? So sales were down 13% in March 2020 compared to the same month last year. And what does the 3.7% decrease refer to? March 2019 compared to 2018? Or what? It's a big secret.

As you worked out, March last year was pretty pants compared with March 2018 but this year is really grim. As Expected :(

Easter fell right at the end of March in 2018. These things make a difference, and I'd expect Govt and BBC analysers to know that...

If you buy 100 2nd hand USB drives off ebay and run file recovery software on them sometimes you recover files.

That, according to Tayside university, is worth a masters degree?  FFS!

University press office strikes again.  Looks like a perfectly reasonable (if uninspiring) student project to attempt to quantify user cluelessness about data security.  Possibly part of a larger thesis?  https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=3631441

Thanks for the education on where to find such things.
Having read it in full it really doesn't feel worth a masters degree.  As an undergrad project I'd give it a Richard I suppose, certainly not a Desmond.  Masters is supposed to include original thinking (a step towards phd),  there's none in that.  Even the application of ethical considerations (one of the better parts of it) reads as if following a well worn path.

Yeah, it feels like it's a preliminary piece of work towards a larger project.  Maybe there's a COVID-19 factor and they had to cut down the scope at the last minute or something.  Or the press office was breathing down their necks for something with media appeal.  Or, in the style of my disastrous undergrad project, they grossly underestimated the amount of time it would take to analyse the contents of a hundred random flash drives (perhaps due to some unforeseen technical problem), and never got to the interesting bit.

Of course, the press don't care about academic merit.  And it is an important lesson for the people who won't learn from it.

Hmm, disappointing video. I was looking forward to some crunchy action with rising bollards but it looks from the video as if it's (presumably) videos and fines in the post.

By which they mean something went horribly wrong with the audio stream, rather than expressing a desire to exterminate humanity.  Mind you, he is a Conservative...

But what does the Book of Proverbs say? And why did the Dalek which appeared on the Andrew Marr show fail to fulfill its duty?
