Kindle paperwhite and Win10?
« on: 13 August, 2019, 12:13:11 pm »
Had thought today to back up my Kindle paperwhite to Calibre. No kindle found in explorer. Seems from various forums its an issue, and ongoing.

Did anyone manage to solve it please?

Why to you need to bacup your kindle? You can just download again from amazon.

Or if you want a copy on your pc use the pc reader

I use kindle unlimited and I don't think they stay on Amazon's server. Hence wanting to back up and of course I also use 3d party books. All of which is beside the point of Kindle not showing in explorer.

Was the kindle turned on before you connected the USB cable?
Can you see the kindle from within Calibre?

Yes the Kindle was turned on and as the builder of Caliber says if you cannot see the Kindle in Explorer then it will never show in Calibre.

I had a Win10 update on Wednesday just past but no change. The weird thing is that the wife's kindle, same model as mine and same firmware but younger by a couple of years shows up on Win 10 on her lappie as does mine. It's annoying and very bizarre.

Latest is I did a factory reset and no change so the only option now seems to be buying a new one. I tried it on the wife's lappie and same same.
