Dear Messrs Astra, Oxford and Zeneca.

I had my second dose of your Coronalurgi vaccine on April 29th.  Why, then, did I go to bed last night with all the classic side-effects, viz. aching limbs, chattering teeth and a disinclination to remove my socks lest my feet turn into miniature icey-floes*?

Yours ect

Feel fine now apart from the lingering backache that comes from spending three hours wedged into a tight corner of the Mess at Fort Larrington disentangling bits of Anbaric String while a steady rain of fifty year old cassette tapes fall on my head.

Well the draft home report arrived (it really did look like a 15min job):

Quote
no sight was available of the flat roof
If you'd looked out of the Velux window when you were in the loft you'd have seen it just fine.

Quote
Some soft wood round the door frame and window surrounds
Er, the windows are all PVC and the nearest wood to them is the trim round the tops of the dormers which is all boxed in by wood effect UPVC trim. Also, if you could reach that with your telescopic ladder you're having a laugh.

All mention of soft wood removed now. Shame the 2nd draft got sent to some random with a similar but different gmail address. But I suppose it will be available to anyone with an ASPC account soon.
Do not clench. It only makes it worse.

Can confirm that I didn't get it.  Actually, I haven't had an xkcd://1279 since the bill[1] for 911 calls.

Bejezus, Legal & General, a cheque! WTAF are those? You have my bank details, you clearly take the money from there in the first place, so put the money back in there.

Garmin, purveyors of shite software for unreliable devices.  OK, my car is now 7 years old, (but its only done 47k miles!) and the newest one with the same nav/entertainment/car info device is over 4 years old, but totally stopping all support, including map updates?  The updates were a ripoff anyway, as they were still a couple of years out of date when they issued them, but to totally stop?  So how am I supposed to navigate to this place which is in a postcode you do not recognise (because it was built about 2 years ago), buy a new separate Garmin nav unit, I think not!  A Tomtom, which has a far, far better user interface, and free map updates for ever, and costs the same as two map updates for the Garmin, will be purchased in due course. The Garmin thing has also decided it doesn't like my new Xiaomi phone, although it played happily with its Sony predecessor, so I can no longer make or receive phone calls (by voice command) in the car.  It connects, but refuses to actually relay the speech.  A Tomtom will do this, like my old one did, which is about 13 years old, and still works (albeit also out of map update now, as it preceded the free updates for life arrangement).

Oh, and I didn't much appreciate you stealing £1100 from me last year in a fake transaction.  Luckily my bank got it back after a bit of to-ing and fro-ing.

So Garmin, up yours...

See also HMRC. I’m sure it’s nothing to do with them holding on to your money for longer to earn interest, oh no.

People are pigs.  About 10k from here our local cycle track runs alongside a lay-by on the main road, separated from it by a scrappy hedge. When I rode by yesterday I had to weave round a burst bin-bag that had scattered what looked like dog-turds across the path.  Some swine had obviously driven there and heaved it through the hedge with malice aforethought.

Put a set of 32mm Marathon Supremes on my audax bike. While I was fitting them, I thought, hang on - the frame only has clearance for 28mm... maybe 30mm at a push. But since I was already mid-job, I thought why not see it through. And what do you know, they fitted nicely.

Then I measured them for a sanity check.

29mm

You may measure them closer to 32mm in a couple of weeks.

Looking at houses on the internet and if I never see another one of the following:
  • Every room is grey
  • Those crappy plastic wall stickers in crappy script with "Live, laugh, love!" Or some equally ghastly Clinton's card type pukeitudes
  • That bloody multicoloured highland cow painting
It will be too soon.

Isn't grey one of those colours that people reflexively use because it's not magnolia, when they're allowed to paint their own walls for the first time?  Like menstrual tomato terracotta.  Or BLACK.

Could be I suppose, though certainly wouldn't have occurred to me. Anyway, we all know which of those YOU'LL be using!
