Show us your ink (the tattoo thread)
« on: 23 September, 2010, 01:11:38 pm »
There are plenty of mentions of tattoos in various threads on here, yet no specific thread with pics of forum members ink (and I'm certain there must be a few out you out there).

So here it is, the forum members tattoo gallery. C'mon, get yer tat's oot.

I'll start.

1 day old so not looking their best, crap phone photo doesn't help.

I have Campag on mine, under certain conditions it says Campagnolo.

I've often hankered after a small discrete tattoo, maybe a small bird or something, probably near my groin or top of my leg.

I thought a swallow would be most appropriate ;)

One assumes a mighty calf.  Is it over an actual chainring bite?

I wasn't going to show this one because it's crap, but.....

Done when I was 16, paid for by my dad. Often thought of covering it up but it reminds me of who I was back then, and how awesome my dad is (how many dads would even allow their 16 year old to get a tattoo, never mind pay for it).

[chainring tattoo pic]

Fans of chainring tattoos might like to cast a glance at my chum Joel Metz's website.

I see he's now branched out from chainrings to include a Sturmey Archer sprocket.
He usually rides PBP, so next year you might be able to see them in the flesh, so to speak.

No afraid not, It would be one great accident for me to get a chainring bite from the recumbent ;D

I'm not generally a huge fan of tattoos, but some of the shapes on that website - both on the skin and in silhouette - show how beautiful a chain ring can be. This is an art form which seems to have been sadly neglected, in favour of rigidity and light weight one presumes, in recent decades.

Swallows are also the symbol of freedom.  Often found on ex-lags, tattooed on the joint between the thumb and forefinger.

I shall get Mr R to take a photo of my tatts - a swallow and rainbow flag on my right shoulder.

They're also birds that come home year after year - which is where the sailors' swallow comes from.  I think the lags got it from the tars.

I've got a traditional English fox-hunting scene tattooed down my back. You know, the sort of thing you'll see on your granny's table mats. Huntsmen resplendant in pink and a fox's tail just visible poking out of my arsehole

Something to amuse Rapples as he rides you, eh...?  ;) ;D

My first was a simple three-cornered Celtic knot on my shoulder. One day I'd like to have it made more elaborate. I can't take a photo of it myself, so you're not getting one. My next was a more elaborate but still quite simple Celtic knot on my foot, which was ouchy.

My last is a Celtic crescent moon, on my hip. I can't take a photo of it and preserve any kind of modesty, so you're not getting to see that either. That one has a little jog in it because every time the tattooist went over my hip bone with the needle, I flinched. (This was in the days when my hip bones were relatively near to the surface).

I would like more, but I'm still thinking about what and where. Obviously I've considered ACAB across my knuckles. If I had more knuckles I'd go for AWVMAB.

Would any of the male yacfers consider a narwhal along their groin with an appropriately placed spike?

This is the most impressive, and probably the most painful, tattoo I've ever seen.

I think I would be unable to sleep with that man for laughing.

I've seen a picture of a woman who has had a bird tattooed across her belly and groin so that her pubic hair makes the plumage, but I can't find the image.
