Title: Dismantling an Old Gaggia Grinder

I have an old Gaggia MDF grinder that recently went bang. When I opened it up all the internal wiring had perished and so it was shorting out.

I can get the electrics done easily enough, but am stuck with the disassembly. I've got the motor unit out, but can't remove the upper hopper. Looking around on the net, it seems that the more recent ones have a couple of screws inside the hopper covered by plastic blanks, but mine doesn't have them.

I figure that it either unscrews or is a pull off, but I've tried both with as much force as I dare considering the plastic is about 25 years old and no success.

Does anybody have any experience taking one apart ?

Posts elsewhere suggest that it's a splined fit, so just pulls off straight. Levering round it with a screwdriver seems to be the approved method of breaking the grip of years worth of coffee crud.

Funnily enough I'd actually posted on that forum but didn't get any responses. I'll try the big screwdriver approach and see how I get on.
