There are photos of me sunbathing UNDER my beach towel in Mykonos.
Sun gloop at the time was pathetic by modern standards - SPF 6or so.

I grew up with 3 week long summer beach holidays. Morning spent in swimming cossie, afternoon with t-shirt on. Cheaper than inadequate factor 4 lotion. Back then they said it allowed for 4 times the length of exposure time. If you burnt in half an hour you got 2 hours before you had to cover up or put more on. I took a full day to burn so I guess that's one dose every 4 days?!! It was the 70s/80s afterall.

Now I'm fortunate in that I only need 1 or 2 applications of factor 15 if I got sun exposure early in the year. March.April.sun each year kind of prepares my skin for the.summer onslaught I.reckon. No.science behind it just that it seems to be like it with me

I have very white skin in the winter, but I tan deeply if slowly exposed to the sun over a few weeks.

Or that’s how it used to go. Now I have what I have self-diagnosed as vitiligo. Bit of a nightmare, since I love the sun and being out in it.

Currently experimenting with sunscreens suitable for cycling. Still looking…

Ask Polar Bear about that.
