Cycling locally one day I came across the grave of 'Wendy' of Peter Pan fame and her parents. Her dad wrote the Poem 'Invictus' and apparently was the model for Long John Silver due to losing a leg to TB. Wendy and her parents are buried in the estate churchard of a family friend, at Cockayne Hatley. The friend turns out to have been a bit of a lad within his social circle and had a number of illegitimate children. He is also possibly/probably the grandfather of Maggie Thatcher. The poem Invictus was an inspiration to Nelson Mandela and of course we now have the Invictus games that Harry set up. Maggie, well enough said. Its a funny old world.
