Got some "Camera Armour" off Ebay for a tenner for the 5D.
Basically a silicone rubber "sleeve". It fits well and means you don't need to be so careful when putting it down on a hard surface as the rubber takes the knocks.
The rubber, extendable, lens hood does the same for the lens (I'm really pleased with the lens hood. I don't bother extending it. The 40mm f/2.8 benefits from a little extra shade.)
Since this is my "Street" camera it helps to keep it slightly more discreet as well as bump-proof.

Ooh, that silicon sleeve for the camera looks ideal. I may invest in the same for my EOS750D, to protect it while doing macros of fungi etc.
What have I bought today myself?
Well, while browsing my local camera shop, I saw a rather nice looking Manfrotto XPRO 3-Way Geared Head. Ideal for landscapes etc, I justified to myself... Certainly a significant upgrade from my Manfrotto 460MG 3 Way head which I found was tricky to do fine adjustments to pan / tilt to. So £135 lighter in the wallet, it's now mine!
