There's a vicious circle going on here. I find that menthol talc (specifically Gold Bond) helps. I find that itching often is linked to riding and undercarriage accoutrements. I  find that riding with underwear leads to sweatiness which - even if I don't notice - leads to itch later. As a result I try to ride anything more than 10 miles with cycling shorts/liner, and I use a menthol chamois cream to help keep everything calm. It's not that I can't ride without, just that it is much better and easier to keep everything calm than it is to deal with Excessive Itch.

Much less TMI from me. Still coughing (past a month now since the cold started). Wrist improving. Physio suggests cycling outdoors (with gears) may now be attempted. Rowing, motorbike, fixie still verboten.

Foot x-rayed yesterday, obviously not conclusive enough for the radiographer to tell me on the spot (I didn't push for her off the record diagnosis) so it'll have to wait for a radiologist to look at it (7-10 days for that info to go back to the GP).

Amazingly slick. From going in to the GP to coming out of the local hospital having been x-rayed was just 50 minutes (and that includes the 20 minutes it took on the bus between the two).

Now to wait and see whether I need a boot to help it heal properly, and when I can start physio (ankles need some work as they suffered when I was compensating for the initial injury, continuing to play football for 4 more weeks whilst in occasional pain obviously didn't help), and then when I can start running again.

Probably off 5-a-side and running until Christmas. (16 weeks back from Brighton Marathon 2018 is Christmas Eve, it's going to be interesting to go from struggling round a 5k to improving my marathon time in just 4 months. May have to pull out and focus on one later in the year [and London in 2019].)

Swimming will be fine (I tend to use a pull buoy almost exclusively anyway). If cycling is not going to make it worse I'll hopefully focus on fitness and weight loss with those two. (It might be a useful excuse for not riding fixed too.)

After a week of annoyance and occasional breath-stopping jolts of pain from my arthritic right ankle I realised ten minutes ago that I had just come up two flights of stairs without a twinge.  Then I picked up my coffee and damn near dropped it when the tendinitis in my wrist woke up and roared.

Heigh ho, business as usual.
I've dusted off all those old bottles and set them up straight

My post-colonoscopy farts were noisy and explosive.
I had a fair bit of painful griping.

It seems this will be in my future. Laxatives in the post.

Nope.  :hand:

Good luck!
For me it was no great shakes, really.

I blame my post-scope griping on very enthusiastic resumption of all the foods I had to eschew pre-scope, when they encountered residual MoviPrep.

Two hours so far, waiting for stuff to happen.

Don't know if the Singletrack Picolax posts are still around.
They are rather good...

It did. Digestion returned to normal fairly quickly afterwards. Nothing abnormal found.

That must be a relief!

After yesterday's chutney incident, I've got this terrible pain in all the diodes muscles down my left right side.  I didn't even hit the ground that hard.   >:(

Heal well Kim.

In the hospital my blood pressure was 144/83. So I was given a red wrist band and told to keep an eye on it. So I got a wireless thingy and checked it at home last night which gave 127/79 which is only slightly elevated.

But you probably wrenched the muscles HARD in a subconscious effort to stay upright.

Mend well soon!

Or it not to stay upright (there's not really anything you can do when a recumbent slips out from under you), to protect myself on impact.  As on previous occasions falling from that bike, my instinct to protect my fingers from being crushed overrode my instinct to break my fall, so I didn't land on anything particularly delicate, but wrenched my shoulder a bit in the process.  Leg aches from the usual emergency unclip and landing in an awkward position.

The one actual bruise on my left ankle is much less painful today.  I expect it will turn an interesting colour in due course, but shouldn't cause any mobility problems.

Over the last few days I've been having an issue with an infection in my right thumb, seemed to be centered under the nail around the point it goes "under" to "over". Only, I didn't remember getting a splinter and couldn't see a foreign body. My normal treatments for minor infections, Magnesium Sulphate or/and Hydrogen Peroxide didn't seem to touch it, and I was treated to the odd oozing of pus. So much so I had resigned myself to a doctor visit to get some antibiotic cream.

Anyhow, on the basis that it really felt like something was in there, last night I had a good machete-ing about and came up with..... a seed. The dangers of breadmaking, who would have guessed? Seems to be on the mend now.

I’m being referred to a hand specialist re my wrist injury. I guess the next step is likely to be a steroid injection.

Or amputation. Be careful, those surgeons are keen.

A rowing pal has helpfully suggested a hook.

Referral through work has been approved for consultation and MRI if required. At least this should allow the diagnosis of ecu tenosynovitis to be confirmed or rejected.

ECU tenosynovitis is relatively rare. ECU subsheath damage is more common and loss of a small area of lining below the ECU tendon where it point loads over the distal ulna is quite common.

You really need a top quality local hand surgeon who just does hands.  PM me if I can advise

That's interesting - thanks. I have been given three surgeons to pick from and one of them seems to be much more of a hand specialist than the others - I reckon he's the one then!

We got the diagnosis today, neither of us is infectious now, it's just bloody annoying.
