Best Place to Get Replacement Shimano Part(s)?
« on: 13 February, 2010, 04:03:07 pm »
I’ve got a Shimano XT Rear Derailleur RD-M750 from which the gear cable barrel adjuster has broken off.  Looking at the Shimano parts diagram, the parts I need are:

Item No.   Shimano Code No.   Description
5      Y-5TN 13000      Cable Adjusting Rubber Cover
6      Y-5TJ 98030      Cable Adjusting Bolt Unit
7      Y-5TP 98030      Rubber Boot and Stop Ring

I’ve found something at Chain Reaction, but that’s obviously only Part Y-5TJ 98030 (or similar), and they’re out of stock anyway. ::-)

My LBS is a proper Shimano place.  Should I order the bits through them or is there a quicker/better alternative?

It looks like madison are still the uk distributor for parts, if you send them a message with the parts you need they should be able to help you.  Otherwise I can't find anything on the net.

Thanks, and again, it's only one of the three anyway.  I'll look forward to the reply to my message and, failing that, try LBS and, failing that, Argos in Bristol have often been very helpful in tracking down bits.
