The Mercian's got a poorly BB and needs to go to the bike hospital, so I've been commuting on the Galaxy for a while.
So set off this morning........ Luckily only rode <2 miles before remembering that today is the day the Mercian is booked in at the (Not very)LBS.  Bugger!
Ride home again and change bikes.
Admission.  I'm actually not that fussed about cake.

Slave Traders - why are you now sending me emails about IT jobs? I'm a Chemical Engineer, not a 'PHP developer'. In fact my highest qualification in IT is a Key Skills Level 3 ICT* and my smidgin of PHP knowledge is self taught and not exactly fluent. Go away and stop clogging up my inbox.

*This was a qualification so good that marks were actually awarded for turning the computer on!

Sounds like you're fully qualified for a PHP dev job, then.

Metric, obviously. Imperial swimming pools are non-migratory, aren't they?

Actually , and I think I may have mentioned this before., my favourite unit of measurement is the MilliHelen.
A MilliHelen being the amount of beauty required to launch one ship.

I assume the one-bar electric fire is ineligible as a unit, on account of being SI derived?

My favourite unit is the micro century, which is the length of a Dundee University lecture. This allows time at each end for room interchange.

Not just Dundee, but I'd never spotted the micro-century bit before.

Then there is the lecture century; whereby a one hour lecture appears to drag on interminably, or at least to feel a century long. Scandinavian linguistics springs to mind. Or the eminent Dean of School's enlightening summary of Faeroese literature.

Somebody at work showed me some you tube footage of a motorcyclist with a headcam losing control of his motorbike on a corner and narrowly missing an oncoming car. The footage ends as he dissapears off down an embankment half-way down the Cat & Fiddle.

Thankfully he is OK but I think his trusty steed is a bit worse for wear.

Probably one of the eejits that screamed past me last Sunday as I panted and wheezed my way from Macclesfield to Buxton.

Numty.
