You may of noticed that over the past few years the USA has been run by a mad man. Among things he did was stick tariffs upon electrical goods. Now the electronic makers decided they would shelter the American consumer from the worst of the tariff. This reduced the components makers margins and they probably charged the rest of the world a little more than they should have.
The big Taiwanese manufacturers have decided they are not going to subsidise the Americans anymore and have announced price increases for everything. There is a possibility that price increases for Europe will be less nasty. As for the great Brexit project, who knows.

According to some Toobers a 25% increase is on the way for GPU's and CPUs in the US, as if they weren't high enough already due to data mining etc.

The prices changes seem to apply across the world, I've been trying to buy a graphics card for months now and disgruntled people are reporting the same price rises in all territories.
The original reason/excuse may have been Dickhead Trump but they're taking the opportunity to increase margins elsewhere.

Pundits are also recommending buying RAM now as it is due to become much more expensive as a result of production issues and all of the foregoing.
