;D yup, I re-audaxed the trek last night so should be in good order for a few drops of water tonight.

I found a detailed forecast that was talking about Hail and Tornados.....might be some Bus Shelter visits tonight!

Not cold though!

The report I read on the hailstones sounded fairly bad ie - pretty large ones so you may well need to be using those bus shelters for protection!!

And the 29th is a Wednesday.

That gives you a choice of Saturday on which to do the Blue Moon ride. The Dun Run is on the Saturday nearest to July's full moon.

MEMWNS to The Half-Moon at: Belchamp St Paul, another in Rayleigh...Moon on the Square, Basildon?

I will be heading for Thurso on that evening... or more likely being consumed by Cairngorm midges! Actually, no. I will be on Orkney if all goes according to plan.

Correction to post no 7218: the Blue moon is on 31st July, a Friday. That's the day I return from Scotland.

Is it confirmed that the destination for this coming Wednesday is Admirals Park, for the beer festival? It is not out of the question that I might attempt to be there, if so. I will find out if Dez is available for chauffeuring duties, and if Del is able to attend.

If Del can't make it, I might even turn up on a bike!

I think the Chelmo Beer Fest is our destination for Wednesday night.  Lovely huggy has even provided the Witham peloton with the route we used in 2011:

https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/99028427

I'm not normally the biggest fan of beer fests as I don't like all that standing up nonsense but when I've been to Chelmsford's offering before you can sit on the grass and the forecast is OK

I think we might be taking up ted's offer of secure bike parking but we'll need an address.

What do we think gang?

That route pretty much goes past my office.

I intend to join you in Witham at the start so I can guide you in

I'm not 100% certain of being able to attend at the moment, depends on carer duties for TCMH  :-\

Looking unlikely I'll be riding this evening, don't wait for me if not at the roundabout for 7:30.

I'm going to be there tonight - just got back in - gotta change and upload the route - will try and intercept you somewhere.
You are in a maze of twisty flat droves, all alike.

Amazing evening out awheel with 9 in the peloton joined by Oaky already at the beer festival wondering where huggy, OD, Tomsk, Tedshed, DL, Carlos, Gavin Giles SecretSquirrel, AndyC33 & Tippers were.
Beer report to follow courtesy of Doggers...

^^ I can only but agree with Huggy on another great evening and good peloton........! Thanks to Ted for the loan of his work garage space which left the bikes nice and secure and meant Tippers got the chance to drag take us all into the Ale House where a swift pint of Duck Under was consumed and despite the temptation to slack off the beer festival the pull of Oaky already being there as well as Carlos's brother was enough to see us off down the road to Admirals Park!*

A super selection at the festival - where would we start, I had a pint of Preacher from Andy's local brewery Oakham and then followed up with a tasty pint of Brainstorm from the Felstar Brewery.

With the pace moving to moderate on the Boreham road return my legs felt slightly shot as we came into Witham trying to hang onto the back of Tippers and Carlos's wheel! Thanks again must go to Carlos (who has been watching far too much TDF over the past few days) for promptly chucking himself off his steed with Teds GoPro running

Also good luck to Ted in his 20k ride this afternoon - Don't let MEMWNS down! ;D

Finally Sir Squirrel Nutkin really must dig out a rear light from somewhere or we all may need to have a whip round for the poor chap  ::-)

Top night indeed.

Fandango even managed to fix his dynohub connection in Tiptree

As mentioned to Andyc33 (I think) last night, the Alehouse could be a good option later in the year when the weather looks iffy - with the option of training it back being open to most of us (apart from myself and Tomsk but we are hard Flandrian types).

Compasses at Littley Green next week - DL is very keen that we use his route.

Back to resting up for my long ride this afternoon...

ALPKIT PRESS RELEASE ...

Alpkit are pleased to announce the launch of a double version of their popular Hunka bivvy bag.  The "huggy and ted" is roomy enough for lots of enthusiastic wriggling and made from a hygienic wipe clean waterproof yet breathable fabric.  A handy Kleenex pocket is also provided.

ENDS

As already noted, an excellent evening awheel.  I commend picnic blankets to the house
