Excellent...could we use the santa special to try out costumes.....100km of potential head winds should be no problem for a wise man

I'm thinking along the lines of the below. The built in overshoes are a real bonus

On account of TCMT-H thinking that I was going out on the bike with the Mid Essex Massive this morning I am apparently going, see you at the roundabout for the full experience  :-\

Was the coastguard chopper called out or did you all make it safely back to port?

I had a rather damp ride to Chelmo and back. As the FB club-run consisted of just me, I went to the Essex CTC AGM instead. I found I volunteered to help on the Windmill Rides next June [which is now looking like a busy cycling month] - as they are rather short of marshalls/controllers. The lunch [provided by Maggie Mills] was excellent too. AUK Rich E was there, as well as the expected host of familiar CTC faces, including Essex Audax Legend, Brian Taylor.

Re: next Wednesday - meet me somewhere along the Gt Leighs ['Castle' crossroads] to Bannister Green road? [Assuming you leave Spa Rd at 19:30, heading via Fairstead, Fuller Street etc] - then we can form the magical mystery chaingang, and...to keep everyone happy, the ford at Shalford Green might be quite full by then, and the lane either side might qualify as one of Oscar's Dad's Sh*t Roads of Essex...

I'll get in first and say I managed a successful navigation of the Dogger Lane Ford today. It also proved the Goretex shoes are indeed watertight!

BCM entry posted, santa special entered, passessment for Easter arrow, Kernow &Southwest, Mae Mr Pickwick yn mynd i chwilio am ddreigiau a chwedlau and Flatlands sorted. Looks like another Audax year is taking shape!

I couldn't quite believe it when I saw tippers ploughing into the Doggers Lane ford!  I've done it too some years ago on the tandem before I knew any better so me a and Nik are an exclusive club!  Any other prospective members out there?

Tomsk's idea for next Wednesday gets my

Out of interest, what gear are you putting on the Genesis for the BCM?

Despite the final observation up there, I will endeavour to be heading in the correct direction on the correct road along with the rest of the Spa Rd. peloton on Wednesday.

You mean "which Genesis are you riding ?"

Given that I didn't manage to do any ride over 300km this year, I don't think I'll be attempting BCM next year.

I'm going to try for a fixed SR in 2016, though.  (I got the 300 and 600 on fixed in 2013, but rode the 200 and 400 on gears before I got my day01).  BCM can wait for 2017.

Excellent....my entry was in the post yesterday.

Carlos will be fine with the condom under the saddle, you can sleep in a nice warm bunk in Dolgellau.

My entry is now in a post box. Will we get in? It say it's over subscribed on AUK, or does that just mean that it's always over subscribed, so you just have to enter and see?

I had thought that was left from last year. Seems not but I reckon all should be ok. It is pretty early, not a PBP year and it looks to be restricted to AUK members. Fun waiting to find out now.

Re: tomorrow - I've been out for a little ride this morning to look at the Shalford Green ford - it's a bit deeper than last week, but still ok [just!] to ride clipped in and not get wet feet.

If we're going to do a serious bit of chain-ganging on the wider roads, then I might make a concession to sanity and ride gears - it's so much easier to match the pace in a tight formation, especially at higher speeds/cadences.

Gears  :o

If Tomsk is on gears, I'm definitely on gears and a motor if I can get one fitted.

How do you form a grupetto on a magical mystery ride  ::-)
