^^^^^ very poetic OD, surely a bit early yet to make a firm decision on this evening's participation?? The winds will have died down by the time we are due to meet at Spa

For those planning the route, the wind is currently coming from 200 degrees ie southwesterly and gusting 40 knots.

We're not f*cking sailing there, you know!  ;D

That's the problem with these 'hello sailor' types Oaky.....

Do we need a plan B ?

Yes I believe that will be to abide by Rule #5 although I am worried that OD, Huggy and possibly The Hustler may not be following Plan B....  :'(

I have my Get-Out-of-the-Wind card.  The colonials have woken up and commandeered my evening.
Have fun out there and stay upright, chaps!!

Three reefs in the main, tri-sail at the ready, storm jib set, run for shelter.

Isn't that a swerve of Rule #1???

And did Ted sail any of them  ???

So it looks like a depleted peloton.

I am still up for it but with the proviso that if it is getting stupid out there that we head back to the Woolie or somewhere and  take refuge.

The wind seems to be on the increase and is now veering southerly (200).

Perhaps a ride into (rather than across) the wind with a turning point and then being blown home might work.

Sadly yes Ted our men are dropping like flies......  ::-) At least the weather is doing what the forecast says for now, which is picking up now to die down this evening and hopefully along the lanes we will be sheltered by the hedges!

For those that ride tonight just remember Rule #9

according to the weather station on Cobmarsh, the wind has been increasing all afternoon and is currently blowing Force 7 which is a near gale at 30knots plus average.

That is a lot of wind and if there are stronger gusts then we are in danger of getting way beyond being badasses and into being dumbasses

Get it right Ted we then dip into Rule #5 meaning we are as hard as f*ck...... I bet Teethgrinder's not been put off by a bit of wind  :-\

Recheck Cobmarsh at 6pm for the next shipping forecast, I'm sure it will show a much more positive outlook

Don't panic Captain Mainwaring!

BBC and Met Office have it calming down to a mere ~20mph at the appropriate time.

Child's play!

See take note OD/Huggy (although the colonials are playing up!)

Of course we still may see Tippers, and the Beer Filled Commuter, Gavin (if he isn't on NH repeats tonight), Sister Carol and the Danbury Dogger the peloton could well swell before ETD of 7.30pm

I'm in.....or out as the case might be. I need to go home to pick up my superman outfit but as long as forward progress in a roughly westerly direction is possible I will be there. If I am not at Spa road can you guys wait for me at the castle....with a pint :-)

Jiberjaber may not have exactly the right co-ordinated outfit and accessories for a windy, night ride in mid-November which might scupper his attendance.

This will be like my version of a turbo session!

I rode home last night and I was quite surprised at the shelter offered by hedgerows......but riding past big trees was a little interesting. As the wind blew the leaves seemed to hold on....the branches less so!
