An early request for Wednesday 6 Sept before school goes crazy.

Coggeshall?
Alma?
Feering?
Anyone else for an EER visit to one of the above?
If we settle on the Railway in Kelvedon or Sun in Feering then Loopy may join us on two wheels.

I am potentially up for some EER on Wednesday, but the weather is so good this week that I want to be afloat instead if possible.

You could always bring a floatation device and enjoy your beverages from the riverside in Kelvedon...

I've no idea where Harleston is and Google suggests Norfolk. Let me know a bit more info and I'll let you know if it's do-able

https://goo.gl/maps/tJGz3DEaLK9Ro6uS7

Yep - thats the fella, though for some reason I thought it was closer to Hadleigh! I've overnighting there on my way around Wolf Trail... so I am probably on the wrong side the trail to make it work really... I might also be pretty tanked up already by the time I get there as I am stopping at St Peters on the way! :D
there's another (smaller) Harleston in Suffolk, near Stowmarket.

Is now a time to mention the postponed Fat Cat meetup?  Some of us are keeping a regular eye on it.  It's still there and still selling beer and cider and allowing you to bring and eat your takeaways (plates and cutlery provided).
I'm there now, not as expansive a beer list on Monday but still about 10 beers on.
Regards,

Joergen

I read that as ‘about 10 beers in’, as in you’ve already sampled quite a few!

Not out tonight now as Mini ACME (finally) goes Dutch (a year late) last-minute planning 😀. Hopefully I'll actually make the ferry this time...

Thank you Andrew. I'm really excited. First holiday in over a year and it's been a hard road to get to this point! I'll certainly be taking time to enjoy the scenery and stopping to look at things, eat nice food and drink some Belgian beers!  :P

Grimbergen was the Quaffers choice drink on the recent PBP trip. Bikeabilityman literally beered his way around that event, but now has withdrawal symptoms as it's rare to get hold of in the UK.

On second thought, can you load your panniers back with Grimbergen on the return ferry.

Do you ever go to the White Hart in Margaretting Tye these days? I remember meeting there a few (10) years ago

we've not been for quite sometime, it closed over lockdown, reopened as a bit of a foodie place, I've not checked it out for quite some while though, might have a ride over this weekend and see what the score it, though I suspect it will be perhaps an early closing venue - whilst it does have local Alpaccas, it's nicer to support one or two of the local pubs, so Sir Evlyn Wood would be my recommendation on that basis.

I am steadily becoming acquainted with the maritime environment hereabouts (*) and can report that “offshore” can become “onshore” with alarming rapidity.

(*) I will shortly be commencing my evening classes in coastal navigation. Which will provide yet another excuse not a going cycling!

I was informed in my early days of sailing that East Coast depth gauges also work as altitude meters.
I proved that on several occasions

I have a late work call to endure this evening so anywhere I may meet a gathering will be via a direct route and likely departing after 8pm. I would favour a local-ish venue to the CoG or slightly east thereof.

Yes, I'm wondering when I might have my first running aground episode.  In theory as Lou-Lou Belle has such a shallow draft it shouldn't happen too often.  In theory...

The last time I was out I listened to a Pan Pan VHF conversation between an unfortunate grounded sailor and Dover Coastguard.  He requested a tow and Mersea RNLI were launched but I did wonder if by the time they got there he'd be too high and dry.  Another yacht went to his aid but couldn't get close as he reported he'd run out of water.

Ideas for tonight?

We haven't been to the Kings Head at Tollesbury for a while - an idea inspired by Leonard Lee's latest video here.
