BB shell width?
« on: 26 May, 2008, 01:37:02 am »
I thought my track frame would be 68mm

Having fitted it the shimano cup sticks out by 2/3mm, it has flange on it which unusual on that side of the BB

Do I leave it sticking out or search for a BB with a more narrow cup spacing? a 68 TA BB fitted flush so why doesnt the shimano one?

My Shimano BBs stick out a little (1-2 mm?) on 68 mm shells.
Wheel meet again, don't know where, don't know when...

2 or 3mm sounds a lot, but mine (UN-52, I think) sticks out from a 68mm shell a little too.

Is it possible that you've bought a BB for a 70mm shell?
so long as this does not affect the chainline or clearance for the chainset it won't matter since the axle length will not be affected.

Defo a 68mm

It shouldnt affect the q factor on the drive side so I think all will be well
