This is fast. Too fast? Hopefully it won't be like Bobridge's attempt.

Amazed that weather and air pressure makes a difference. They're saying it can change the result by something in the region of 500 metres.

OK. I've managed to get the pub TV tuned to pick.  I'm not allowed volume though.  So I'm relying on you guys for commentary.
Admission.  I'm actually not that fussed about cake.

Amazing stillness, concentration and consistency. Despite the high pressure, I think he's got this. 54.8 would be my guess.

Well, it's a very small peloton and no one's made a break or an attack yet.

A nice Palmaris, but PBP, Essex SR and BCM missing, perhaps we will see him put this oversight to bed in the future!

Only caught the last 30 mins on Eurosport, he looked to be on the limit in the last 10 mins. Well done Brad, 55 would have been nice but 54.5 will keep the others thinking for a while, especially with the obvious pain to do it.
A very interesting special "Les Rois de la Pédale" just after the record with Roger Legeay as a guest, discussing who might go after Brad, talking about his career and in passing wondering why Chris Froome doesn't have the same charisma. Legeay brought up the old potatoe of the machines not being the same for Merckx and Brad, thus putting the record out of reach of the non-specialist trackies and clm riders. Funny but no-one makes the same arguement with Lucien Petit-Breton (who also raced track and road). I can already hear the cries "Record deleted; no doping controls, machine not UCI approved! Come back next year please!". A nice touch was the footage of Peter Kennaugh winning today's stage of the Criterium, along with the talk about UK cycling - no mention of Cav in the charisma stakes though, although he probably gets more regular airtime than any other Brit rider on the continent.

Do you think he could win PBP against the Audax specialists?

Win?

Thought it was audax and not a race.

Yes, no doubt. Any of the pros would be faster. Jock Boyer won RAAM the same year as leading out Davis Phinney for Giro de Italia bunch sprints.

Is this an old man's record?

Partly because of the mental stuff needed for it and partly because the preparation and recovery would eat into a money-earning Pro's schedule.
It is simpler than it looks.
