I popped into the Tesco on College Green to get some milk. I see a big sign near the entrance "Dairy" so head there - and find shelves of juice cartons and cans of fizzy pop. No milk, butter, cheese or anything that has been anywhere near a cow. In what world is fruit juice a dairy product?

Being ready to go this morning in good time, I walked in for a change.

On the way home, I dropped into Waitrose to see what they had reduced. Bingo, a pizza for dinner.

Coming out, I found it raining quite hard. It's been raining on and off all day, just short showers in between sun. So it would be bound to stop soon. I waited a bit in the entrance.

Mayflies were born and died. Elephants gestated. Civilisations rose and fell.

It just rained harder. Torrential. Waves of torrential, interspersed with slightly less torrential, just to get my hopes up. I amused myself watching the enormous puddle building up behind a speed hump.

A chap in a big boat full of animals drifted past.

Eventually, it sort of stopped. By the time I got home, it was blazing sunshine. So blazing, I've had to pull the curtain so that I can see the screen!

Eventually, it became

Pukka Tea, any chance you could molish your teabags so that when I take them out of the protective hygienic individual paperbag thing, they don't split a teeny bit and spew the contents into the water?

Been thinking that the cassette on my road bike is due for replacement sooner rather than later. So I just had a look online at prices for 10spd Shimano compatible cassettes...

Flippin' eck. The current one is going to have to last a little longer.  :-\

Also, why can I get an 11-25 cassette, or a 12-28 cassette, but not a 12-25 cassette? Hmmm? What use is an 11-tooth sprocket to anyone with normal human-sized thighs?

dasmoth - there you go, you need two pairs of normal human-sized legs to be able to use one.

Just found out that there's a Shimano 105 12-25 cassette, and it's almost affordable, so maybe I'll treat myself.  :-\

Goes with the 54-tooth chainring.

That is on account of all the muscle being fitted into a shorter height...
It is simpler than it looks.

I'm not a plumber, but I thought the traditional fix for a dripping tap was to replace the washer, not tighten it up and remove the handle.

I did consider that Wednesday's 76km & today's 105km might be too much too soon but have adopted an "in denial" attitude*,not least becuase as previously it doesn't hurt whilst riding but starts about an hour after finishing.

*ETA the York/Hull/Lincoln ride at 196km  of a couple of weeks ago allows me to do this 'cause my knee didn't bother me too much on that ride.

Never mind lovely.  You only need your knees for cycling anyway.

I just remembered, I never got around to airing my tent for Rutland - we went to Scotland the next day.  It's now on the washing line smelling all fusty.  Gah.  :(

Dear TV Licencing,

Fuck off.  I don't care if you've edged the letter in RED and made it all threatening sounding we STILL don't have a TV licence and given that you're not capable of retaining that data I refuse to waste time and energy retelling you constantly (esp as you don't make it easy).   If you can't keep hold of that data then as far as my interpretations of the DPA go, I'm not required to keep telling you.  "Until we tell you otherwise we are not watching broadcast TV, now fuck off"

If you send an "enforcement officer" round without a court order they won't be let in.  They may also get a lecture from me (if I answer) objecting to the harassment of anyone who buys anything remotely capable of receiving TV.  I don't get that for anything else that needs licencing which ACTUALLY matters like say a car or something!

Letter filed straight in dev/recycling where it belongs.

Ah well now. FWIW, I found peace and quiet from the TVLP by letting in the Nice Lady With The Badge, and showing her (a) The absence of TV and (3) The 6 foot gap between aerial cable and absence of TV and (vii) the 9 foot gap between the satellite cable and the absence of TV.

All been quiet since .

Whereas 9 speed shimano compatible cassettes in 12-25 are dirt cheap1 and readily available.   That doesn't help does it?  IGMC.
