Similar with US based supplier who's International Shipment required a US zip code!

Bloody automagical USAnian petrol pumps do this as well.  Haven't you lot ever heard of tourists?  I can perhaps understand it in Bumfuck, Idaho but in central San Fran-fucking-cisco?

Petrol pumps asking for a zip code?  How odd.  Whenever asked, I always give 90210.  :smug:

Since the only zip code I know off by heart is the one we had when I was a kid, I'd be putting that in...06870!   ;D

But what an odd request...why on earth would the petrol pump need to know where you lived?

Cos USAnians can't afford to put ANPR on all their roads and it's a simple way of keeping track of you?

IGMC.  Its the one with the tinfoil hat in the pocket...

Two possibilities occur to me:

1 - Prevent card fraud.  If postcode and registered address of payment card don't match refuse service.  If not for that then...

2 - Marketing.  You've bought their gasohol once now they can bombard you with junkdirect mail forever.

(Sigh).  Can't fettle an extra cage on to my bike because teh braze-on and the plug-screw have seized in what looks like a very permanent way.  If I ever greased anything this wouldn't have happened.

Although to be fair, they might be the same as the naff braze-on on the fork, that has NO THREAD and I have at least managed to safely fettle the front rack on by being very clever.  Using cable ties on the mudguard stays this time, rather than the luggage rack.

I am going to have to buy yet another adaptor from the Apple Store so I can use my projector with the latest MacBooks.
Tonight's Guest Speaker had a new MacBook which used Thunderbolt.
This will be adaptor #5. (MiniDisplay, DVI, iPad ANOther)
Apple: it just works...
Yeah right!

Perzackly!
A VGA lead will work with most PCs of any brand but last year's Apple adaptor won't work with this year's Apple computer.

You can generally get the leads *much* cheaper from Amazon.
If you can use a Thunderbolt-to-HDMI adapter then PM me, as I have one spare.

I don't like riding in this weather. Sweaty, hot, the sun hates me.

I just like riding in the sunshine - temperature is largely irrelevant (although I need to get used to riding in warmer weather).
Trouble is, the bulk of my (bike) commute route is utterly loathsome, despite my best efforts to make it interesting with off-road bits and the like - it was far nicer when I worked on the 'right' side of town and at the University (ironically, the company I work for used to be based at the Science Park)

Hey ho.

It's not YAAS, it is Android Marketplace under a new branding.

Balls, the loveliest weather yet this year forecast for the weekend and my posh 'summer bike' built up ready (even new wheels to come from Tewdric!), and I'm visiting f**king Birmingham. Birmingham. FFS. I know I get to see friends and family, but seriously, f**king Birmingham. I even mowed the lawn last week so it's prime for lazying after a bike ride. Birmingham deserves really shitty weather.

Whereas 9 speed shimano compatible cassettes in 12-25 are dirt cheap1 and readily available.

Yeah, I have several part-worn 8 & 9spd cassettes in my box of bike bits in the garage...

LibreOffice Impress, why are you such a pile of thin, runny shite?

Forrin students, when in Britain, do as the Brits do: QUEUE!

While I'm at it, Italian conference organisers, I've never heard of IEEE pdfeXpress.  Kindly point me to it before complaining that my paper isn't IEEE compliant.  Of course it is, I created it with your blimmin' Latex template, I just haven't run it through the verification tool that you didn't show me before.

Right, fingers on buzzers for the next round.
Some, none, or more of today's answers come from our Guest Publication, Price Gouger's Weekly, the national magazine of M6 Motorway Service Stations.

The price of:
1 croissant, 1 glass of orange juice and 1 double espreso is...?

If you guessed £8.10, you just got two points.

Did you also get a copy of the paper from them that you then upload, instead of the one you made yourself? I feel your pain.
