ah, the fox and hounds at denmead the home of the pompey riders, the ride to p-b-p will start from there ;D

Surely the ride to PBP started sometime last year  ;D  ;D

The Fox & Hounds is a place where plans are made and sealed with a pint or n of London Pride.

the most significant place in Audax is that place in my mind where my attitude resides when my arse ache or neck ache or wrist ache or some other n- factor  is trying to conquer my world

Jodrell Bank as you can see it for miles n miles

Though Elmley Moor Tower In Wakefield as it sits high up on Elmley moor and is visable from most places once ya climb out from Manchester

EMLEY MOOR TOWER: Did you know that Emley Moor transmitter is the tallest free-standing building in the whole of the UK - higher than Blackpool Tower (left) or the Post Office Tower (centre)? No wonder you can see it from all over the county

Millbrook tea rooms in Mitchel Troy, Monmouth excellent home made cake and excellent value.  But not Talybont on Usk cafe I paid £4.44 for a coffee & cake there today!

You were lucky, I've repeatedly tried to use them as a control for my events - they've seldom been open, and when they were, a shortage of staff resulted in poor service. A pity, as I'd like to support local business where possible.

The good thing about Talybont-on-Usk is the village has two of the best PHs in that part of the universe - namely The Star, and The White Hart.
where you have a concentration of power in a few hands, all too frequently men with the mentality of gangsters get control. History has proven that. Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely.

The 'awkward' level crossing near Bedale. Or perhaps that's just me.

Leeming Bar?
I thought you'd have no memory of that!

No, that's Holme Moss.  Emley Moor is def. nearer Wakefield

<OT>

They were originally twins, both steel lattice towers, but Emley Moor iced up and came down one cold day in 1969, & was replaced with a concrete structure.

+1 to ESL's pointer to the church hall at Dalmeny. Duncan ('the ghost of audax past') Peet's events from there were the first ones I ever did. So it's all his fault.  :P

I have to add the village hall in Ardgay, HQ for several years of Steve and Denise Carroll's brilliant rides round the northern highlands. Their events are now transferred to Portmahomack. I've not been yet, but hope to put that right at the end of this month.  :thumbsup:
It's a bit weird, but actually quite wonderful.

any lay-by with El Supremo and The Oven.
Besides, it wouldn't be audacious if success were guaranteed.

Hate to disagree with you, chap, but Emley Moor is Huddersfield.

Has a WF postcode, but is nearer Huddy

Glew's Garage in Goole  ;D
Plus the sundry motorway services hereabouts (in particular, Ferrybridge, Blyth and Gonerby Moor)

You have a remarkable eye for romantic scenery.
Ferrybridge power station, and the new(ish) A1/M62 interchange, are truly things of beauty. Especially at night.

What about Beattock village hall ! Tom Hanley's start and finish for his classic 400 Ower the Edge.

The RHDR Station Cafe in Hythe. Barely a ride in Kent doesn't pass through it.

I've visited 3 of the stations on the RHDR about two dozen times;

never on a train

In that case, Membury Services gets a mention. Hardly ever been there by car...

I got a call from Ann (who does the bookings for dalmeny)  about 3 weeks ago asking me if we were still going ahead with our event this weekend.  I checked the auk calendar and pointed out that not only did I not have an event running this weekend but nobody else did either.

Like the restaurant that only wants you to phone to cancel your booking, it was very reassuring.

she also knew that 2011 was a PBP year.   ;)

May I also nominate Ballachulish Village Hall - home of curtains and voddie?

Beattock Village Hall! I've never done PBP without doing Ower the Edge as well. I was most unimpressed by the ground- source heat pump system, I wonder if they investigated how much heat there is to be recovered from the ground in Beattock.
