Title: Trans Am 2019
Post by: morbihan on 04 June, 2019, 07:02:24 pm
Underway.
Abdullah seemingly taking up where he left off on the IPWR. Pretty incredible.
Seems like a fairly new slate of riders out there; not too many names I recognise from other events.

Abdullah is now 230!!! miles off the front. An absolutely incredible feat of endurance. The daily averages are staggering for the climbing section of the route.  I would wager that at this rate all previous records will be smashed. Last year they had virtual dots for the previous winner (the late great Mike Hall) as well as for the womens record, though they are not up this year so Im not sure if he is ahead of schedule for a new record.

That is some lead, is it not?

Projected finish is 15:20:30; time will tell

over 400 mile lead for AZ and a tail wind by the looks. Mind blowing.

AZ banked a good rest at Newton bike shop and has now resumed extending the gap to the chasers by over 400 miles.
Lea has blown straight on through Pueblo  where several of the riders holed up after crossing the Divide. She has shot up to seventh place.
I find the womens placings more intriguing in these ultra events where the nature of whats involved is pushing the separation of male/female categories to the point of irrelevancy.
The start list of the SRMR is up and there are some top shelf riders from both sexes. I wouldn't discount two of the women being in the top five.
