Tyneside Vagabonds 2024 Events
« on: 15 September, 2023, 11:37:20 am »
Most of my 2024 events are now on the Calendar. I might add on a couple of shorter/mid-week ones but I'll see how my year goes
C2C2C 300km is on Saturday 20 July 2024 - entries open 25/11/23
Borders and Flatlands 1000km is 23-26 August 2024 - entries open 12/11/23 - I'm still finalising a few things after some enforced changes but they're minor. Hopefully a full update in next week or two about the 1000.
All other events open 3/12/23 including
ToBG 600km
Border Nights 400km
Northumberland Nightshift 300km

Thanks for the reminder.  I'm in.  Let's hope the logistics of getting to the start and back are easier than this year's RMT frustrating trip to Carlisle for TOBG.

Just a little reminder that all my remaining 2024 events* are now open for entries.
What else is there to do on a cold December day than plan Audax adventures next summer?
All have a limit based on what the route, facilities and myself can cope with. Some will obviously be very popular.
Please don't leave it to the last minute, I'll close any of the events when they're full.
Easiest way to find them all is go the the AUK Calendar, type "Andy Berne" in the text search box AND change the "Days (to search)" box from 90 to 900, you should then see a long list of my events.

Two new events added to the calendar for Saturday 19 October.

Two new events added to the calendar for Saturday 19 October.
Start in Brampton, Cumbria. Village Hall finish just outside Brampton.
200km Copshaw and Solway - A ride over the border into Scotland with a bit of climbing in the first quarter. Then a fairly flat loop around the Solway Firth before crossing the Eden Valley to finish

128km Solway and Eden - A fairly flat loop around the Solway coast before crossing the Eden Valley to the finish. The only significant climb is out of the Eden Valley, ideal for anyone wanting a shorter or flatter event.

Both open for entries now

Waiting list update, I've had 3 DNS's and removed 2 people from the list so it's now down to under 20 people.
I'd normally expect a 10-20% DNS rate albeit not until nearer the time so if you were interested in riding don't give up all hope of getting a place. I'm currently still taking names for the waiting list.

Important Update on 2024 Events:
« Reply #15 on: 11 February, 2024, 01:49:00 pm »
Unfortunately The Hemmel Cafe in Allenheads is currently closed for an indefinite period.
This potentially impacts on the below events. If you've entered the Allenheads 100km (29/5) or the Four Tops 200km (14/9) I've sent you an email.
Summary of changes below or see the relevant AUK calendar event page. The revised versions of the events should all still work very well, albeit with some changes, some small changes but some bigger ones. Still hopefully a good day out for all. They're all currently open for entries and offer the usual good value type 2 Audax fun.
Wednesday 29 May - These events are now called the Rookhope 100km and Rookhope short route instead of the Allenheads 100km and 64km short route - both events will now start and finish in Rookhope. Hopefully this will avoid any confusion. The route won't change much but you'll get the gentle climb of Rookhope Head at the start instead of at the end.
Saturday 6 July - Chapel Century 161km/100 miles - there's a slight change to the route, mainly after Middleton in Teesdale. I've got a cunning plan for a replacement for The Hemmel Cafe on the route but that's still under negotiation so I'll update entries nearer the time but it should make for a very good event. It'll still start and finish at the Chatterbox Café in St Johns Chapel. The Chapel Chase route isn't affected.
Saturday 14 September - Four Tops 200km - there's a significant change to the route at the start and between Yad Moss and Allenheads. It's virtually the same distance, amount of climbing and AAA points but should make it a much better option. Still not an easy day but if you want an end of season challenge! The Three valleys route isn't affected other than there's nothing between Blanchland and Allenheads.

Hello Andy. AUK calendar has four tops on 14 September. Is 24th a typo?

Thanks, Stuart.

Saturday 23 March
Newcastleton and back 200km event is full and closed. At this point I do not expect to reopen it (expected DNS's are factored into this).
There are still a few places for the 100km Winters Gibbet event and that will also close when it's full.
www.audax.uk/event-details/10906-winters_gibbet_
There are still some places available for the Eden Valley events on Saturday 6 April but again they'll close when full.
It does seem events are becoming a lot more popular and there is a limit to the number of entries we can manage so if you want a place don't leave it to the last minute.
