Seen by my cousin in his local Sainsbury's. An orthographical dilemma.

<Not a caption>
I suppose the dilemma over which way to angle the accent (I'm fairly sure it should be grave) is matched by the ambiguity of "50% less fat". Assuming creme fraiche (no accents on my keyboard!) is like cream (I never eat the stuff so I don't know) then "half of what it used to be" and "half of it is fat, but that's less than normal" would come out roughly the same.

How would you like your health scare, acute or grave?
It is simpler than it looks.

Sunday morning in the supermarket after the Saturday night to end all The-Weekend-Starts-On-Thursday Parties, Auntie Helen's cousin wasn't sure if he really was seeing double.

(no accents on my keyboard!)

I do them in Word - ctrl ` then e gives grave, ctrl ' then e gives acute - use ^ for circumflex, s for sedilla, : for umlauts etc.

Then paste it into your post.  Might also be able to do it using alt + numbers.

I tried ctrl ` then e here in the YACF reply box. Nothing. So I tried all three simultaneously and a box appeared at the top of my screen inviting me to enter a question!

Thanks for the tip though, I've always used the Symbol function but if this works in Word it'll be handier.

In my salad days when I was green in judgement (and used a PC, before I discovered Macs) I used to do Alt+0228, Alt+0262 etc.

It's so much easier with Macs and the iPad, upon which I am currently typing, has loadsa stuff æãåāàáâäß

I've just dropped a short cut to the character map onto my desktop.  Makes it all easy enough.

Tried it in Word and only the first three worked for me. Maybe this is due to the particular version of Word or perhaps it's because my Word always wants to write in Polish.
