Now that I'm back from forrin parts, I'm catching up with yacf and planning things for the the rest of the year. This weekend sounds just the job, so you can pencil me in (with an indelible pencil). I'll probably carry on up north afterwards to the Wigtown book festival.

I'll be bringing a cycling colleague from work.  Please try to corrupt him, he's young.

Didcot: Didcot is one of those special "split fare" points, so it might even be cheaper for London-wards bods to buy a ticket to Didcot then another to Swindon. Not many trains stop at Didcot though. Alternatively, there is a good route using bridlepaths and quiet lanes from Didcot through Harwell Science Park and the outskirts of Wantage.

At the rate things are going it seems unlikely that it's going to be actually cold, though.  It's just that this summer's re-calibrated our definition of chilly...

Are people cooking on Friday night or buggering off to the pub? Sam (not that one) and I will probably roll up at about dusk.

I'm not likely to be pubbing due to the duck.

Well, I am packed and planning to leave tomorrow morning and wild camp somewhere along the Ridgeway tomorrow night. The ez3 trike has been fettled and is running better than it did on the way to milldenhall. The weather forecast is not bad at the weekend so I am looking forward to seeing you all there on Friday

I've removed the brick dust from my touring bike, fettled and tested the brakes.  I'll sort the rest out tomorrow evening.

The duck and I are here! Due to complicated logistics, clarion dropped us off and will come down on Friday or Saturday. It's a lovely site on fantastic countryside.

The showers are a short walk or ride away in the little field attached to the farmhousey bit. That's also, I think, the only field that doesn't allow fires. So we do get to burn things and keep warm, cavemen style!

Unlike :(

The field with real loos and showers is directly across the road so all ok. There is only one other tent here tonight so far. Lots of housemartin type birds though.

The pub in Uffington has sockets in the conservatory and does good, but not cheap, food. Plenty of time whilst you eat to charge a battery though.

Just remembered – they lock the gate to the farmyard from some time in the evening, maybe ~11pm-ish, to about 6 am, but you can still ride up the track at the side of the loos and showers field – on the right as you look at it from the road. Or just walk round the little gap in the gate.
