Ready for the off
« on: 01 August, 2018, 07:46:44 am »
Right, ready for the start of my first ever touring adventure.

Bike is packed, panniers (banananana bags) stuffed full, routes planned and loaded into the GPS and I'm ready to go.  I think my total load includig water will be something approaching 15kg.  I really don't think I've overpacked at all.  The only additional spares I'm carrying this time vs a 100 or 200km audax are a spare folding tyre and a fibrespoke just in case.

Where I think I may have overpacked is on snacks - I've thrown in a handful of gels and a good selection of 9 bars, and yesterday in MSHOTC I couldn't resist adding a pack of fig rolls.  Of course I'll be buying more on the way as well.

Drive up to the jumping off point tomorrow and then up to Ardrossan to catch the ferry on Friday.  7 days cycling, 780km in total, should be fun

Have a great time!

Getting obsessional about weight is an interesting way to pass time but likely of limited benefit (spoken from the perspective of an obsessional, my last packing weight was 10,339g give or take. Or, less than half what I have packed around my middle since)
