Tracks to turbo train by
« on: 02 December, 2009, 09:15:25 pm »
As it’s that time of year again, I was wondering what tracks to load onto my MP3 player to help pass the time and keep me motivated on my turbo trainer. In previous years, I’ve gone with:

Pounding – Doves
Epic – Faith No More
Welcome to the Jungle; Sweet Child O’ Mine; Live and Let Die – Guns n Roses
Living for the Weekend – Hard-Fi
Born To Be Wild – cover version by INXS
Time; Devil Inside – INXS
I Predict a Riot – Kaiser Chiefs
Dream on Black Girl – Kash
Somebody Told Me – The Killers
Even Better Than The Real Thing; Elevation; Vertigo – U2
The Pretender; Long Road To Ruin; Cheer Up Boys (Your Make Up Is Running) – Foo Fighters

I think that a refresh is in order for this Winter, so has anyone got any particular favourites or recommendations that work for them?

Or you can just slate my taste in music... :)

I've been using this over the summer for the painful threshold and v02 work:

Ministry of Sound | Various Artists : Euphoria Run-Fit Workout (Download Album)

I'm on DVDs at the moment for the less intense off-season work.

 I hate it.
Wizzard's "I wish it could be Christmas every day", OTOH, is great. ;D

I've said before, http://www.youtube.com/v/IykWbUVDWL8&rel=1 is the best single track workout you could ever hope to get.
Try it.
It's a bit weird, but actually quite wonderful.

Like it! I think I'll add that to my player.

Just about anything by Ministry.

NB this probably doesn't work for lower cadence workouts ;D

I've a three hour playlist called gym muzak which I have on random play. Most of the time on the trainer I'm simulating climbing so I don't need too fast a cadence (hah) but I do want something that has a bit of belt in it to keep me pushing. Particularly good ones include;

Anarchy in the UK - Sex pistols
Gudbuy to Jane - Slade
Another girl another planet - Only Ones
Babylon's Burning - Ruts
Ball park Incident - Wizzard
Birthday, Hey Bulldog, Drive My Car - Beatles
Blue Monday - New order
Change - Tears for Fears
Common People - Pulp
Do anything you wanna do - Eddie and the hot rods
Don't stop the world, Hypertension, Capaldi's Cafe, Hi Jo Hi, Rock Ferry - Deaf School
Don't wanna be like that, I'm the Man, One More Time - Joe Jackson
Abacab (short version) - Genesis
Flaming Pie - Paul mcCartney
Faling for the first time, One Week, (and several others) - Barenaked Ladies
The Future's so Bright I gotta wear shades - Timbuk 3
Woke up this morning - Alabama 3
Gary Gilmore's Eyes - Adverts
I Fought the Law, Rocking the Casbah - Clash
I knew the bride - Dave Edmunds
Inbetween Day - Cure
Lifetime piling up, Nothing but flowers, Once in a lifetime - Talking Heads
Lucky You, Sense - Lightning Seeds
Making Plans for Nigel - XTC
Lust for Life (GREAT FOR HARD CLIMBS!) - Iggy Pop
Nobody told me - John Lennon
Pump it up (and others) - Elvis Costello
Rock and roll, Celebration Day - Led Zeppelin
Thousands are sailing - Pogues
Roadrunner - Jonathan Richman
She's about a mover - Sir Douglas Quintet
Spider Web - Joan Osbourne
Sympathy for the devil - Rolling Stones
Take it home - Utopia
This Flight Tonight - Nazareth
You Oughta Know - Alainis Morrisette

...am I showing my age here?

I've finally got audible audio so am working my way through various CD's.
"Liberty of Norton Folgate" was good though my legs had died before the killer track that is the Clerkenwell Polka. Last night it was U2 18, of which I only got part way through.

The Euphoria CD sounds interesting..
