Brompton Qs.
« on: 04 April, 2009, 08:46:10 am »
After some deliberation I have just about decided that if I'm buying a folder, it will be a brompton. Probably!
Ideal model would be a P6L - X, but budget might not run to that, so standard P6 might have to do. Seem to be very few Ps on the second hand market - so how difficult/expensive would it be to change the bars etc from an "M"?
Also, what's an easy way to be sure that an older one is post-2003 (which I think is when wheelbase lengthened)? Do model names help?
Apologies for ignorance.

You have to change the stem as well.  These are about £80-90 new.

The extra wheelbase has been added between the main hinge and the head tube and it's obvious if you compare to a photo of a new one.  However, I think the model name change to M3L rather than L3 came after that.
Hard work sometimes pays off in the end, but laziness ALWAYS pays off NOW.

It did - I have a T6 which is the long wheelbase, but the old-style shorter front stem.
