Title: Why do the office toilets have small ventilated metal recesses in the wall?
Post by: rogerzilla on 07 November, 2018, 05:41:43 pm: About 4" square, to the side of the WC in each cubicle. There is a row of air holes at the top of the recess. What's it for? Is it an ashtray? This has always been a no smoking site since it was built.

Your little orifice does sound like it’s part of a tun dish arrangement. With back to wall loos the cistern is hidden so they invent spy facilities to spot when there is an overflow issue.
Or it might be somewhere to hide carefully folded micro-grumble materials.
