The Richard Ellis Memorial 200 & 100km 02/10/21

The Richard Ellis Memorial 200 (08:00) & 100km (09:00) on Saturday 02/10/21 are open for business. I really hope this will be my last x-rated car park start: the Winter Series should be back to pub start and finish from November and I've made provisional bookings of St Mary's Centre in Churchend, Dunmow for 2022. 

The Maglia Rosso cafe at Hawstead (half way) are onboard for both events, with Mary Ellis and family up for stamping cards there. Other control details still to sort out.

Entries are coming in steadily for both events. I'm thinking of a 'Helpers' Ride' for the 200 (and 100 too if anyone would like to do that?) on the Sunday before: 26/09/21 - though we probably don't need many helpers on the day, as it's still an 'x-rated' event.

Good to see that the winter series will be going ahead as well, though they can't be wetter than this year's RnR, I had to empty my sleeves at one point

As an aside, for Wahoo users (and probably Garmin users too), if you click through to view the route in RwGPS, you can then pin the route and it'll appear on your device once sync'd. I only found out about that feature relatively recently. It makes the whole process rather streamlined, and you can just unpin the route after the event.

Yep works for Garmin too. Once you pin the route in RWGPS, it appears as a course in Garmin Connect from where you can sync it to your device

Slight change last year (to the 100km permanent version which we will be using) - from one of my lockdown explorations off-route. Updated route sheets will go out after route checks this weekend, but Wilkyboy's gps tracks are already up to speed. I'm not expecting any last-minute changes other than missing signs and so on, though there may yet be road works/closures, but which usually prove passable ...

Routes checked - once I've got everything down coherently on paper, I'll be emailing updates out tomorrow and a few notes on here too. Managed to avoid the thunderstorms today (unlike last Sunday) and was caught up by Wilkyboy at Halstead on his Helper's Ride. Unusually, we were both using those new-fangled gear things. Just got round in daylight on an 08:00 start.

Nice to see we've got some weather coming in for the second half of the 200 tomorrow. I seem to remember this being a feature 3-4 years ago. A good test of the wet weather gear before we get colder conditions.

Ah, that's brilliant news — we just about managed to avoid a couple of enormous deluges last weekend on the route-check, I guess Tomsk was saving it up for you lot

But looking on the bright side, it'll then be a side/tailwind all the way back to Dunmow
