Packing it in

Saying good bye to my allotment this week, after seven or eight years.

A number of reasons:
When I started it was £22 for a full plot, now it's going up to £60 for a half plot.
Currently have three jobs and a major volunteer project on the go so don't have time.
I always get the weirdo on the plot next to mine.
And another reason that I didn't like to admit before.....having an allotment does restrict what you eat.  I just feel that if I grow stuff then that's what I gotto eat, but I can't grow things like baking spuds, which I really like, so from July to March I don't get to have them as I've got to eat the home grown spuds instead.

The plan now is to down scale and grow a few things that I do like from the plot in the front garden (rear is in shade and has a network of tree roots under it).  Probably onions, carrots, courgettes, cucumbers, etc...see how well they do or if the local scallies pinch them!
