AUK Annual Awards - nominations requested
« on: 10 March, 2021, 12:01:54 pm »
One effect of COVID delaying both the end of the 2020 season and the AGM, which will now be held in May, is that the annual awards timetable has slipped somewhat.  There were no championship awards last season, but that does not mean there were no awards.

In particular, the AUK Board would welcome nominations for the following awards:

Paul Castle Cup and Female Merit Trophy
Awarded by the Board, from nominations by members, to the male and female cyclists whose cycling performance is considered to be the most meritorious of the year.

Organisers' Trophy
Awarded by the Board, from nominations by members, to the most meritorious organiser, or organising body, of the year.

Helpers' Trophy
Awarded by the Board, from nominations by members, to the helper(s) in an AUK event.
(This is available to non-members; others are members-only)

Norman Booth Cup
Awarded by the Board to the person considered to have served AUK best.

Peter Tandy Award
This goes to the youngest rider to have completed a Brevet Randonneur during the year to 31st October 2020. We believe we have identified an eight year old prospective winner of this but would be interested to hear of any other claims.

PBP Awards
Finally, there are three awards that are made only once every four years and can now be made, thanks to the Events Service Director's successful completion of a final list of Audax UK members homologated as finishers of the 2019 Paris-Brest-Paris. These are for:
- the first UK male finisher in PBP 2019;
- the first UK female finisher in PBP 2019; and
- the youngest UK finisher in PBP 2019.

Nominations for the all of the above awards should be forwarded to: secretary@audax.uk, by 5pm on Wednesday the 7th April.

On the subject of awards, we are looking for a volunteer to take on the role of Awards Secretary.  If you are interested, please contact the AUK Secretary, as above, who can provide you with further information.
