Not meeces.

My daughter has some Triops aka Aquasaurs. They are currently just under an inch long and the water is not clear. They also move fast.

I tried to not dip the lens into the water.

Having got over the trilobyte excitement, I note that they are impressive photos of tiny & speedy beasties.  Good work, David!
Getting there...

Wrong! They are most emphatically NOT sea monkeys.

Ah - so you're probably not going to need a sitter when you go on holiday....  ;)

They are known in the trade as 'disposable pets'. Small enough and not furry so that they require some looking after but are not a long term commitment. Kind of the holiday romance of the pet world.

My 5-year old niece won two goldfish in a fair. Ah, I thought, there'll be a difficult but valuable lesson in mortality in a week or two.

14 months later...  ::-)

You put them in the ornamental lake and now they eat passing herons?

What were they hoping for, a birth certificate?
