Tour o' the Borders 2014 write up
« on: 02 December, 2014, 07:41:50 am »
I promised a write-up of this great closed-roads event a few months ago, but it's been so hectic that I've hardly had any time for my blog at all...

I'm normally seen on the audax circuit as I prefer the longer rides and have better uses for my cash than paying through the nose to ride on a road which is open to the public anyway. In this case though, the Tour o' the Borders is an opportunity to ride 75 miles on fine roads in the Borders with no traffic at all, so I thought it was worth a punt at £50 or so. It's a great day out with some decent climbs (a bit of the ground from the Dave Harris) and I'd recommend it to anyone.

I rode my audax recumbent to a reasonable 15th place finish out of a field of ~1200 or so. Maybe the hub dynamo and light should have come off, whatever. Probably thanks to a bit of strategic weight loss (down from 80kg to 71kg) I was climbing on jet fuel.
