I'm not aware of any problems with using QR skewers with disc brakes, but having said that one of the first things I do is dump them in favour of allen-key skewers.

Remember uk.rec.cycling? A bloke on there, Russ Pinder, broke his back after losing a front wheel from a QR equipped disc braked bike.  James Annan wrote an article about a proposed mechanism for such a failure.
Interesting.
I have also had a disc braked wheel come loose and throw me. Is that the same Russ Pinder we have here?

As ever, Sheldon (RIP) had something to say on the subject of disc brakes and q/r skewers:

There's even a link there to the stuff that James Annan wrote.

And the stuff James wrote has a link to his current web page.  They are still in Japan, some nice tour pics  :)

Lets hope we get an offer as we have found the place we want to move to....its opposite a graveyard so no problems with the neighbours (we hope!)

Prepping the lovely OrangeGina (checking brakes, putting air in the tyres, remembering how to use gears etc.) and then I'm going to have a pedal up into town to pick up some orange cardboard for Wednesday night.

Thawing out.
It looks quite pleasant out there, but it's still bloody cold (and quite windy too)

I'm thinking I really need to make an appointment at the doctors. I've had a little lump in my armpit for a while now and monitored it to see if it will go away. It hasn't. Unfortunately my GP won't be able to say its fine either. I'm too busy to be worrying about a biopsy right now ... Meh.

L. it might just be a cyst.  It was with me.  Good luck.

Ditto. Blocked sweat glands are very common.

I’ve had that, a few years back. I can’t even remember what its official name was (I did show a GP and without any tests she said it was nothing to worry about and eventually it went away on its own). So your GP may be able to put your mind at rest.

Thanks guys. I've made an appointment for Friday. I would have done a fine needle aspirate on it myself and stuck it under the microscope, but I figured it would be difficult to do one handed and could possibly hurt too much to do to myself. I'm hoping I don't need to be referred for the hassle factor. It's not a lymph node so I'm not super worried. If it was on a dog I would think it was a cyst.

Having a rest after lugging a new bed and mattress up the stairs and bringing the old one* down them.

The old one isn't two years old, it's a memory foam mattress that my wife really, really wanted and I really, really, really, really hated!

Looking forward to a good nights sleep now :)
