This morning I helped Badger build a wheel. I was not terribly happy with the results: it was rigid enough, but I rounded a couple of nipples (he was re-using spokes so they may have already had some rounding on them). It was reasonably true, but not perfect. Some of this was down to the fact that I was struggling to do the spokes up any tighter - sodding arthritis! Its dishing was not quite as good as I'd wanted either. He's going to take it away and try it out: I've found that, on most occasions that I've made wheels, I've not been satisfied with the results from an aesthetic point of view, but the bikes tend to be less fussy than I am and they actually work OK in practice.
