Title: Improving a very directional light
Post by: mattc on 13 September, 2019, 07:29:15 pm
I believe the Magic shine front lights have a lateral diffuser-type adaptor that spreads the beam around a bit more.

Are there any similar bodges possible for the many rear lights that suffer a lack of spread?

A fresnel lens is what you need.
Depending what part you cut out of it, it will widen or narrow your light beam
Ebay probably the best bet

Fit a modern super-bright LED inside an old Eveready bike light.

Wasn't that an Oasis song?
Or a film by Jim Jarmusch?

Or was Tim actually thinking of cling film rather than bubble wrap?

I DIY diffusers for my seatstay-mounted Smart 1W rear lights, from small white plastic containers; very effective due to the power of the lights.
