Tim Robinson readers on YACF?
« on: 18 September, 2008, 03:34:29 am »

Just wondering if anyone else on here has read and enjoyed the _Stones of Aran_ books, the first _Connemara_ book, etc. Tim Robinson is really becoming one of my favorite writers.

My reason for asking is that I'm trying to find recent/current writers who, like Robinson, could also be called "topographic" writers.

I recently read an interview with Peter Davidson, author of _The Idea of North_ (which I haven't read yet, but will soon), in which he said he was very fond of the "topographers of the mid-twentieth century." But the interview didn't say who those authors were. Davidson did say that he liked the idea of "topographic writing." (But I don't agree with his glib dismissal of travel writing.)

Anyway--if anyone has writers or books to recommend, I'd appreciate it.
