In about an hour I will ahve a piece of paper that I can exchange tomorrow for a Shiny New Bicycle.

Excited? Me? It feels just like Christmas.

I got an email today to say that all the pieces of paper required have arrived with all the relevant people and been duly signed and approved and I will have a similar bit of paper 'before the end of the month' :)

New bike!  New bike!  Soon!

I appear to have bought 2 pub bikes in 10 days.

I'd love a bike that could get me to two pubs.  ;D
It is simpler than it looks.

In mid-Essex also.  And me un Oaky will be taking quick spin in it very shortly

Naturally, we will be stopping off at the Square & Compasses to check they're not snowed or need emergency supplies etc  ;)

Right pair of do-gooders :)

I have decided to take the New Winter Hat TM out for its maiden voyage.  Currently it is in the furled position.  I am also giving my winter glove system a test too.

I think you can just make the hat out in this picture...

Woo hoo!  I just got an email to say my C2W voucher has arrived and I can go and pick it up from the nice lady in Payroll!

Can't go to today because dearly_beloved has got a work Christmas piss-up tonight so I'm on school/nursery run duty but I could sneak out at lunchtime tomorrow and pick it up and go get my bike on the way home from work.  It'll be a (completely by accident) BIRTHDAY BIKE!  I've never had a birthday bike before.  Or a new bike.  Or a very-nearly-black bike.

Woo hoo!

I have just got back from the bike shop with a very shiny, very nearly black C2W bike.  ;D

Last time I had a new bike for me was 13 years ago before my daughter was born.

I has a Giant Talon 2. In Small. And Gentlemans Black. And with Proper Pedals with clippy bits.

Photies will follow when I have a pictographic elf to hand to digitally inscribe a vista of such a wondrous object.

I've now soldered a LED from a old rear light into my new back-up front light.
Now making a front Knog Frog a rear one.

Because I was mistakenly sent two front ones when they were advertised as a front and rear set.
Calm now prevails.

I'VE GOT MY BIKE!

I'm a bit happy.  Although I haven't been for a ride yet as it was extremely icy, I was wearing a long coat when I collected it this evening and I had no lights on me as they still need taking off old faithful before she goes to be recycled.

Did I mention that I've got my bike?  ;D

And I bought another one today too, that I'm hoping to collect on Sunday - a 20"-wheeled Giant that's a Christmas present for a 7 year-old friend.  That makes 6 bikes I've bought since I started reading this forum, plus I persuaded dearly_beloved to buy one too.  And I've got another one that I need to organise going to get - the balance bike for the littly.  So as a family we'll have bought 8 bikes between biggun's birthday (at the end of September) and Christmas.  You lot are a bad influence!

And I just got thrown a surprise burfday party (complete with half a dozen extra kids aged from 11 months to 7 - in our very teeny terraced house) to which my little sister brought a burfday cake - the first one she's ever made or decorated.  Chocolate cake with chocolate in the middle and chocolate on the top decorated with little chocolate pics of chocolate bikes made out of giant chocolate buttons and chopped up curly-wurlies!
