0800701B1 Error message
« on: 21 June, 2020, 01:46:34 pm »
I bought a 2T external HD from wish and after four days started to get this error. Ok I thought it's a cheap drive and its stuffed and got my money back promptly from wish (well done them)

I bought from amazon another one and lo..........after moving some 300Gig of files it now gives the same error. So.......I am taking it that its not the drive its the Win10 home version that is the issue. I have tried uninstalling the drive in Device manager but not odds. Tried another program to move files and get the same error message.

Any ideas please as google is not helping here.

Is it externally powered & have you tried another USB port?

Its powerd via the USB cable and yes tried several ports and same same. I googled it for hours yesterday and frankly ended up so damn confused.

Re the tube vid yes I have done that several times with both drives and it makes no odds.

The error code means a device which does not exist was specified.  Means the device is appearing to drop off the list of devices Windows can see, whilst mid operation.  You could try a different USB port, different usb cable, or both. If that doesn’t work just send it back for refund and get a different drive from a different manufacturer from a different vendor.

Just seen that you say it is usb powered and wonder if it wants more power than your laptop usb port is able to sustain.  Do you have a powered usb hub you could use to rule it it being a usb power issue?

It's connected to a tower?
