Sounds like had more than his fair share of problems.  :(

 I remember him cleaning up in shorter RRs and crits in North and Mid Wales in the late 80s, riding for Port Sunlight Wheelers.

How very, very sad, I raced against him on many occasions in the 70's and 80's. I first remember racing against him as a schoolboy, he won the north west cyclo cross league in 1975?, I was second - I couldn't get anywhere near him. IIRC he won 9 out of the 10 races.

Whilst recently scanning some slides I came across this picture of Mark during the 1986 Professional RR champs that he won. I took it whilst marshalling at the event. A rear view is what I usually saw of Mark during the years I raced against him.
