After I posted this picture a few days back, it was suggested I might like to get more artefact pics and people could attempt to guess where they are from.

So I now have some. I resisted the urge to get pics of the 'we found these in our collection but don't know where they came from or how they got there' display

Try to identify where it came from and an approximate era. They span all 6 continents. Apologies for the dodgy pics - the exhibits are kept under subdued light and no flash or tripods are allowed.

1 L and R: Start off with the top picture. The two masks are from different locations and different eras.

That's a lot of stuff all in one go!

2 is Indonesian, and I'd say fairly recent
3 China - late nineteenth century?
4 peru - looks like a reproduction of an older item
5 I would say that was Indian 18th C
9 Is that a musical instrument?
12 Looks Anglo-Saxon to me (could be half a world out

). Sutton Hoo?

2 Thailand?
3 Korea?
4 Not a clue then

5 Looks like an Indian influence, so possibly East African - Kenya?
12 OK. Is it a knocker?

I feel it's Asian, maybe Thai or thereabouts? Looks like one of the things minor monks hold over the head of the chief monk in Buddhist parades. Perhaps further east - Cambodia? I won't be surprised to hear it's from another continent entirely though.

It is indeed from a completely different continent.

Don't forget that there are items in the photos from North and South america, asia, africa, europe, and oceania.

Central African. The one nearest the camera is congolese but is BaYaka, not Demba

Not polynesia - the marking is 'secret writing' as only certain members of the tribe/people were taught to read it.
