I doubt there will be any Marais Gibbon's for a few days!

Go STEVE!!

Steves PBP tracker - http://suivi.paris-brest-paris.org/index.php?plaque=T166

How's he planning on riding this? A couple of hours(?) to ride into Paris, couple of hours rest then away?

Hard to say, n'est-ce-pas?

As I type, he's only a few miles from the start, with just under 3 hours to get there. [I presume someone else - mainly FidgetBuzz? - has done 90% of his paperwork for him, he just needs to swap bikes. ]
It would be fun to hang-out at the start with everyone else for a couple of hours, drink some champagne etc!

Or he could get a few zzzzz under a tree.

If I was a betting man ... I'd say he will do laps of the environs for as long as poss. And he will ride straight thru the first night for a decent kip early tomorrow night. (Possibly in the Support Vehicle?)  That should be *well* over 420 miles for the 2 days, so he can finish PBP knowing HAMR is still on schedule.

(But I'm not! )

He's off! Bonne Route Steve.

I'll be interested to see how he plays this. 206 miles per day equates to an 89hrs. On the original stretch (87129) schedule for August he would have needed a 67hr ride. Of course the early part of PBP is dictated by control times, Matt may be right that he'll pedal through the night.

How refreshing to look at his trackleaders page and see him following pristine countryside not covered with orange lines!

Now I was confused. I thought he was leaving at 20.00 French time, which is 19.00 in Britain.

He seems to be approaching Nogent-le-Roi and is very much on the move.

He probably said hello on the first day 8 yesterday. He'll have no trouble breaking  the record if he keeps repeating days.

It's more than 24 hours gone by and there is no Strava entry for this day!  :o

This is not good!

It's a continuous track since Dieppe, so if rule is within 24hrs after finishing a ride he's got 24hrs from when he stopped in Carhaix last night....hopefully.
DJR (Dave Russell) now retired. Carbon Beone parts bin special retired to turbo trainer, Brompton broken, as was I, Whyte Suffolk dismantled and sold. Now have Mason Definition and Orbea M20i.

419.2km logged on Strava for yesterday now, but it doesn't seem to include the first bit of the route out of Paris. I guess it's what he's done since midnight last night. At the moment Strava seems to be missing the day before...

I spoke too soon - ride from Dieppe through Paris and the first evening of PBP is up now.

I fear that unless UMCA are feeling charitable he's going to lose his miles for the 16th.  He is without doubt outside the 24hr window.  They won't show on the daily updated spreadsheets for sure, we'll have to wait for the official .pdf which I think gets update around the turn of the month (even though it runs to the 23rd).

I'm not so pessimistic. There have been examples of Kurt not being able to post within 24 hours but he has still (eventually) been credited with the distance. Despite fears to the contrary, I think UMCA have been pragmatic in their enforcement of the rules.
