iOS 11.4.1 - No text notifications

Has anyone downloaded 11.4.1 to their iPhone, and then found that it doesn't notify when a text is received?
Which is next to useless.
Anyone have any idea how to get around this?

I downloaded 12 the other day, but the phone is still showing 11.4.1
I've no idea why that is.

ETA - Downloading 12 again.

Have you turned on Do not Disturb? It puts a little crescent moon in the status bar and mutes all notifications.

Do not disturb is off.
For the moment, the problem seems to have sorted itself.  ???

Struggling to move over to iOS 12 - I suspect too many other people are trying to download it, although I'm a bit surprised, given that it has been available for in excess of 10 days.
