I knew that would happen.

But look on the bright side, she may be a US-divorcee but he's not next in line.

Also, she's not been shagging the Nazi Foreign Minister.

I've heard some total horror stories about people marrying forrins & then finding their partner can't legally stay in the country.  Isn't there something about a minimum income requirement as well ?  Oh well, if she needs a good immigration lawyer we know who to recommend..... ;)

She's rich in her own right.

At least she won't be another parasite, living off the tax payer.

A fair bit of rumpus on Twitter and some of the press because she is shock horror divorced and Harry's Gran is head of the CoE. To which the appropriate reply seems to be Brendan Behan's little verse:

Don't talk of your alien ministers
Whose religion without meaning or faith
Because the corner stone of your temple
Is the bollocks of Henry the eighth
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

Rachel* has a slightly odd Wikipedia page. It says

Years active   2002–present

what does that mean??

*That is her real name, apparently - it's far better, far more appropriate for a Royal than "Meghan". bleagh

Is "Meghan" pronounced "Meffan", "Meean", "Megan" or something else altogether?

They always have that for actors. It means the years that they have been working ie from their first appearance on TV, stage or film.

An actress!

Mrs PC's grandfather was cut out of his father's will because he married and actress/model, not only that, the will stated that should any of his siblings give him anything they would lose their future inheritance when their mother died.

Wow, some people I don't know are getting married. That's never happened before.

Let's hope that some rentaplod don't have to kick down their door in a few years because her immigration papers aren't in order.

I'm sure our anti-immigrant tabloids are fuming!

It may be a bit like Chardonnai or Keirra - deliberate alternative spelling to try and make the child different.

Trouble is, Meghan will now become the canonical spelling, in the same way that Mr and Mrs Knightley's alternative spelling of the well-established "Kiera" changed the way it is now usually spelt.

There's lots of alternate name spellings in the US (no shortage in the UK, for that matter). Alison, Allison, Alyson, etc. The world won't end, least not till the titanic end battle between the cycloptic Ians and dioptic Iains.

I have to say I am very disappointed at the reactions on here.

Whilst I didn't expect celebratory endurance rides ending in wild street parties a bit of mild euphoria, taking our minds off the problems of the day would have been nice. >:(

Oh well, there's time to get the dust off The Mug.

There was a girl at my primary school called Meaghan. I wonder where she is now? Probably fending off twats on the interwebs telling her that her name is wrong....

Those wonderful norks are never far from my thoughts, oh yeah!

Rather comical to see that DUP leader Arlene Foster (i.e. royal arselick of the highest order) firstly congratulated the wrong prince, and then after correcting that she spelt Meghan’s name wrong.

I imagine it will go all quiet once she realises that Meghan is Catholic.
