Help with power adapter for a Sony zs d 10
« on: 09 November, 2018, 09:48:32 am »
I have the above Sony personal audio system. It needs an adaptor and maybe more (it has not been used in years so I am not even sure it will work). However I need the adaptor first.

It requires a DC IN 10 V ac 230V AC 50HZ.

On the adaptor the inner bit is positive and the outer negative.
Can someone please point in the direction of what I exactly need to buy.

thanks

Thanks, I was hoping for something more generic and cheaper.

What’s the diameter of the plug. If you google that plus 10v centre positive you should find something. That approach worked when I was looking for something to power a pedal board

Back in the days when Maplin was a thing, they did multi-adaptors, basically a selectable AC>DC power supply wall-wart with a range of tips. Choose your voltage tip, pin polarity, and that was that. Quite handy for the inevitable wall-wart failures.

I'm sure they're available online still, sure Maplin just got them from China.

This said, whenever I've had a failed power-supply, I just email the manufacturer, and in every case they've sent me a replacement free-of-charge.

The Sony one says it can supply 1.9A (1900 mA), so you’d need to get something the same rating or higher. Here’s one that claims 2A:

No idea if that’s the correct size plug.

(Generic power adapters tend to be *very* optimistic about how many amps they can supply, so you may have problems at higher volume levels)

The pin is a 5mm.

Given all the faff, I may just try and buy a new speaker  to connect into my phone!

It'll be 5.5mm I think, but you also need the inner diameter..

This may be ok..
